My Sculpture work is unique and made by hand without using moulds. Some sculptures start life as a crumpled up piece of newspaper 'rescued' from a recycling box, built layer by layer upon a tightly constructed paper or wire armature and dried beside the stove in my workshop. I enjoy experimenting with different Paper mâché / clay and wire techniques and I have spent many hours perfecting recipes and methods. I hand stitch an array of foraged fabrics for textures and make clothes for the characters created. I love rummaging through scrap fabrics or finding old pieces of embroidery on secondhand markets or charity shops each bit having its own unique past. I I indulge in using discarded / beautiful and natural materials in a playful way which enables my sculptures (characters) to have their own individual story to tell.......
